State Game Land 229 is a two-compartment game land in western Schuylkill County, in the Pine Grove, Reilly, and Tremont Township areas along the Swatara and Lorberry Creek drainages. It covers 2,891 acres of ridge-and-valley terrain between about 700 and 1,300 feet.
In WMU 4C, hunters take deer, stocked pheasants, black bear, turkey, ruffed grouse, rabbits, squirrels, and furbearers. Six parking lots serve the land — one on the western parcel and five on the eastern. Season dates, bag limits, antlerless allocations, and Sunday-hunting days are set each year by the Pennsylvania Game Commission — confirm the current year before you hunt.
