Veterans Memorial Stadium at the north end of Saint Clair was dedicated on September 18, 1950, five years after the Second World War, as a living memorial to the borough’s veterans. It was built on a reclaimed mining culm-bank site.
Coach W. Reese Super, remembered locally as “the father of Saint Clair baseball,” opened it. The stadium remains the community’s athletic facility, with a public track that was resurfaced and reopened in recent years.
