Approximate — the column, the Veterans Memorial Garden, and the Women's Memorial Garden stand together behind Coaldale Borough Hall (borough parcel 40-02-0523) and share one civic-complex pin; the three are not individually resolved.
The Memorial Column behind Coaldale’s Borough Hall is the oldest of the borough’s veterans monuments. Erected in 1933, the granite column honors Coaldale’s service in the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, and the First World War.
When the larger Veterans Memorial Garden was laid out around it beginning about 2009, the 1933 column became the garden’s historic centerpiece. It now stands alongside a World War II KIA column and a column honoring Vietnam KIA Captain Norman Nesterak, at the center of the borough’s Veterans Memorial Garden.
